Face to Face 12-9-13

Dear Mom and Dad,
I will be leaving for the mission office in a little bit for my exit interview and just wanted to write real quick.
We got a major ice storm here and had to park all mission cars for three days we are all safe and doing great. I love y'all and will see you soon.
3 John 1:13-14
13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee: 14 But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee.

Thanksgiving Letter 12-2-13

Dear Mom and Dad,

This week was wonderful. The Free Speech that we hosted was awesome. We were able to talk with so many people. There were less there this time because of the Thanksgiving break but we still met some great people that we will be working with soon. We had a great Thanksgiving dinner at our ward mission leaders home and we were able to still teach a couple people even though a lot of kids were out of town for the holiday. We taught Killion, a kid we have been working with since we got here and he will be interviewed this week in preparation for his baptism on the 12th. We are very excited for him and what it will bring into his life! We had a great week and are excited for this new week!

I would love an assignment for the Christmas dinner  - whatever I can do to help I will gladly do. I am very excited to see all the Biblical attire! I will have to watch a Bible video and come up with something good! The new fence looks amazing and I am ready for landscaping projects. I am surprised how windy it is out there. Good luck for all the new little trees. I will not be shipping anything home. It will all fit in my suitcases. I will be selling my bike this week and I will be able to use money from that to take care of any extra costs.

I am sorry I do not have too much to write today but I will end with something I got out of my studies this week. I read in the beginning of Ether when the boats are being built so they can travel over the sea. In chapter 2 I noticed a pattern that the Lord has set and applies to us today. The Lord answered the questions of how the people will be able to breath and also gave the Brother of Jared assurance that he would command the waves and the wind to bring them to their destination. The third question the Lord asked the brother of Jared to come up with an answer, with the Lords help, to light the ships. This then led to a test of Faith and resulted in The Brother Jared seeing Christ an amazing miracle. In our lives we may ask questions and receive answers but sometimes the Lord wants us to find answers and seek his approval. This will increase our Faith and lead to miracles!

19 And behold, O Lord, in them there is no light; whither shall we steer? And also we shall perish, for in them we cannot breathe, save it is the air which is in them; therefore we shall perish.
20 And the Lord said unto the brother of Jared: Behold, thou shalt make a hole in the top, and also in the bottom; and when thou shalt suffer for air thou shalt unstop the hole and receive air. And if it be so that the water come in upon thee, behold, ye shall stop the hole, that ye may not perish in the flood.
21 And it came to pass that the brother of Jared did so, according as the Lord had commanded.
22 And he cried again unto the Lord saying: O Lord, behold I have done even as thou hast commanded me; and I have prepared the vessels for my people, and behold there is no light in them. Behold, O Lord, wilt thou suffer that we shall cross this great water in darkness?
23 And the Lord said unto the brother of Jared: What will ye that I should do that ye may have light in your vessels? For behold, ye cannot have awindows, for they will be dashed in pieces; neither shall ye take fire with you, for ye shall not go by the light of fire.
24 For behold, ye shall be as a awhale in the midst of the sea; for the mountain waves shall dash upon you. Nevertheless, I will bring you up again out of the depths of the sea; for the bwinds have gone forth cout of my mouth, and also the drains and the floods have I sent forth.
25 And behold, I prepare you against these things; for ye cannot cross this great deep save I prepare you against the waves of the sea, and the winds which have gone forth, and the floods which shall come. Therefore what will ye that I should prepare for you that ye may have light when ye are swallowed up in the depths of the sea?
Thank you mom and dad for you love and I hope you feel better dad.

Love,

Your missionary Elder Shoemaker

P.S. I like the dew Justin Ha Ha!
